Review: In this book Tyler Oakley creates one of the most real and authentic books i have ever read. From the stories, to the language it is down to earth, funny, entertaining and overall an amazing and authentic read.
Binge is about Tyler's life and his rise to YouTube fame and his struggles before that. The purpose of this book is to relate to readers, and show them that they're not alone through a retelling of Tyler's own personal story. This book deals with everything from sexuality to eating disorders to abuse as well as dating, jobs and everything in between. The writing in this book does a phenomenal job of really making the reader feel like they are being spoken to. It's almost like having a conversation with Tyler himself. He talks about his personal struggles knowing that he has learned from them and has the confidence to show his true past and struggles but stays humble through them.
Tyler touches on many different morals and theme's in this book. One of the main one's being self-love. When Tyler talks about his experience with eating disorders and abuse, it really struck a chord with me. He talks about pain not being a part of love. There are some really great lessons to be learned in this book. Tyler's story of his trip to the T-mobile store with his mom was one of my favorites because it really shows how important family is in keeping you grounded and it really illustrates the personality of his mom really well and the importance of her in his life.
If you like funny, authentic stories that are both fun to read and make you think. If you like stories that entertain you and pull you into the story, if you like reading about personal issues, this book is the book for you. I'd recommend this book to almost anyone. It was a very good read and I think most people would enjoy and learn something from it.
