Title of the Book: The Glass Castle
Author: Jeannette Walls
# of Pages: 288
Star Rating: ☆☆☆
 Review:

I am sure a lot of people find their life to be unique. The same goes for Jeannette Walls, although, she chose to write a book about her life story. In the book The Glass Castle, Walls depicts the strange and intriguing events in her life that lead up to her success as a writer. Walls started out her life living with her odd but loving family, bouncing around from home to home. Her parents never liked living in one place for to long and would moving them all over the country as Walls and her siblings grew up. Walls tells the story of all her struggles and memories, good and bad, as she grows up through all the adventures that her family takes. You get enveloped in her stories and life lessons through her writing and can hardly put the book down.
While some people might not find this book to be quite what they like, I think that all the things that happen throughout the memoir would intrigue the majority of people. It is such a unique book because of how different Walls life is from the ordinary person. Walls also writes in a very interesting way. She is able to portray her exact emotions and thoughts as she talks about her memories and it is able to draw you into the story as if it was your own. It is also interesting to read because while it is literary-nonfiction, the grammar is not always correct because she describes what people say in the exact way it is said.
The most memorable parts of the book in my opinion are when Walls talks about the struggles her family has. Like when her parents start to fight a lot. It is interesting to see the difference between what her parents thought compared to what her and her siblings thought about. A lot of the time the children seemed to see things in a better way than their parents, and often found themselves taking care of their parents instead of the other way around.

I think that anyone who enjoys hearing other people’s stories would like to read this book. Walls has written the book in a way that keeps the reader interested as she talks about her life. It is a quick paced story that makes for an easy read. If you like to hear interesting perspectives on life then this is the perfect book. You get to see the perspective of one persons life from childhood to adulthood all in one book.
