 Review:

Into the Wild follows the path and adventures of a young man, Christopher McCandless, throughout the multiple small towns in america, and ultimately to where Chris would spend his last few days, the Alaskan bush. Chris, who had a sense of adventure, and also a immense amount of despite in his parents materialistic ways, wanted to get away from all that he had hatred for. During his travels, Chris encounters almost anything you think could be possible, from being in a flood and abandoning his car to attempting to sneak into America after canoeing into Mexico. Along the way, McCandless meets a vast amount of people, all of who knew there was something different about the young man. However, concluding the adventures of Chris was his exploration into the bush of Alaska where he dies of starvation.

This book is written by Jon Krakaur, who is known for his expertise in writing about the outdoors. In this particular book he does a great job taking the reader through the journey that was Chris' life. Through both first person stories from the people that encountered Chris, to the comparison between others who's stories were similar to Chris, Krakaur draws your attention throughout the whole book.

Overall, if you enjoy reading about the outdoors, or even want to understand why a person might do what Chris did, this book will not disappoint. Guaranteed, you will not want to put the book down despite whatever your reasoning is for reading it. During the book, you will be asking yourself whether or not Chris was just an anti-social drifter, or a strong young man who wanted to get closer to nature and himself. Regardless, after reading this book you will have a sense of adventure that you will want to fulfill.
